Amalia Tsiongas stays up to date on Ethnic Marketing through the study of Greek

Ethnic Technologies is always looking for ways to stay in the front of ethnic marketing.  Our team member Amalia Tsiongas has written about her experience studying the Greek language to better help in her study of ethnically unique and multiculturally sensitive names:

My father and his family are originally from Greece.  In August 2015 I traveled to Greece to participate in two weeks of intensive Greek language study at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Through the connections I made during my stay, I was introduced to Anna Patsoni, a Greek linguist who earned her degree at the university.  Since my return I have continued my Greek language study through specialized one-on-one instruction from Ms. Patsoni over Skype.

This opportunity to learn about my roots and about the language and culture of my family demonstrates thought leadership and helps to strengthen our team of culturally sensitive ethnic experts.  Providing our clients with multicultural marketing solutions that are specific to the Greek community is key in burgeoning international markets like Canada, Brazil and Australia.  In addition, a knowledge of Greek provides invaluable insight into the roots of many popular first names, for example: Stephen, Alexander, Christopher, Andrew, Zoe, and Melissa, meaning continued improvement to our flagship product.

Super Bowl 50 Ads and Diversity: A Perspective by Ethnic Technologies

What Do Super Bowl Advertisers Get that Hollywood Doesn’t?

Ethnic Technologies’ Director of Sales Karen Sinisi was recently asked by USA Today to provide an opinion on “What Do Super Bowl Advertisers Get that Hollywood Doesn’t?” for a timely article to coincide with the Big Game.

Ethnic Technologies is the leading provider of multicultural marketing information to the Fortune 500 to help them reach Hispanic, African American and Asian customers.

In the article, “Super Bowl Ads Put Diversity on Display,” by Charisse Jones, Karen Sinisi said “Super Bowl advertisers get that as the face of America changes, so must marketing tactics. Advertisers know the importance of speaking to the fastest growing segments of our population.”

Ms. Sinisi’s full opinion went on to say: “Marketers understand that promotion by the most popular entertainers and sports figures means they will reach the most critical trend-driving group: Multicultural Millennials. For companies that don’t have $5 million dollars for just the airtime for a Super Bowl ad, being able to accurately and directly reach Multicultural Millennials is what Ethnic Technologies does during the other 364 days a year with a much higher Return on Investment (ROI). Advertisers remain on the cutting edge of relevance in marketing in today’s American landscape not just on Super Bowl Sunday, but throughout the year digitally, direct, with addressable TV and through our mobile devices.”

The full article is available at http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/02/06/super-bowl-ads-put-diversity-display/79832860/

“I was honored to be a part of a distinguished group of multicultural marketing thought leaders quoted in such an important article from USA Today,” said Ms. Sinisi.

Ethnic Technologies to announce Hispanic Connected at DMA 2014 in San Diego

Ethnic Technologies will be exhibiting at the Direct Marketing Association’s 2014 Conference and Exhibition October 26-28th in San Diego, CA.  During the conference they will be announcing the release of their new product Hispanic Connected, as well as E-Tech 2015.

The Hispanic Connected product identifies those individuals who, while not Hispanic themselves, are closely connected to the Hispanic culture.  An individual is “Connected” to the Hispanic Ethnicity if close family (one parent or a spouse) is Hispanic or if she/he identifies with a strong Hispanic culture or neighborhood.  In either of these cases, interaction with the Hispanic community is a part of the individual’s daily life.  Additionally, an individual can be “Connected” to the Hispanic Ethnicity if her/his name is rooted similarly to Hispanic names or is frequently used by Hispanics in the U.S.  Although E-Tech doesn’t automatically predict these individuals to be Hispanic, the similarity in their names makes them likely candidates for Hispanic marketing initiatives.

Are you trying to reach a population with very high earning potential on average?  E-Tech 2015 provides increased granularity for Asian marketing initiatives through the introduction of Mandarin and Cantonese language segmentation and Hmong and Taiwanese ethnicities.  The E-Tech 2015 focus on granular accuracy and coverage also extends across multicultural segments.  Specifically, you can also use E-Tech 2015 to reach more African Americans.

“Just because we’re #1, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be focused on getting better and better every year,” said Zack Wilhoit, Ethnic Technologies’ CEO.  “Our new Hispanic Connected product is dramatically expanding the Hispanic marketing universe for our many Digital, Social Media, Mobile and other important partners.”
